Reuters - By any account, the Preservation Hall in New Orleans made it through Hurricane Katrina relatively unscathed. There was some minor structural damage to the building, which was constructed in 1750, but the venue's French Quarter location helped it avoid any flooding.

Reuters - When Johnny Whitney and Cody Votolato -- better-known as the Portland, Ore., indie rock duo Jaguar Love -- took the stage at a South by Southwest (SXSW) showcase last March, they weren't exactly on solid ground. The longtime friends and bandmates had parted ways with drummer Jay Clark in January, just two months before the music festival and weeks before opening for Nine Inch Nails on club dates in Australia.
